No, you don’t need to register with the (SDL) to access the Library, you can access the Library directly by going to the Library website.

Do I need my student ID to check books outside the Library?
Yes, you will need to show a valid student ID to check out library books.

How do I access the library catalogue?
The library catalogue is available online. For tips on searching, consult the Search Databases or contact the library

How do I find out about new resources?
New resources are available on the homepage of Library under (Library News). Library news and events can be viewed under the same section.

What is a database and how do I access one?
A database is an organised collection of information stored electronically. In the context of Library Services, database resources include journal articles, reports, statistical surveys and research findings. The library subscribes to a wide variety databases, many of which include full text content. These can be accessed via the library's databases section.

Can I access journals online?
Yes, you can access individual journals and journal articles online via the Library E-Journals Finder.

Can I access the library from outside the University (remotely)?
Yes, you can access the Library from outside the University (remotely). For students by using the same user name and password that they use to access the e-learning system and for faculty and staff by using their email credentials.

Can I suggest material for purchase?
Yes. You may submit a Purchase Recommendation Form

Can library staff help me locate information or resources on a particular topic?
Yes. Contact the library to discuss your needs or submit an Ask a Librarian form.

Can I place classroom materials in reserve?

How do I renew a book?
Students, faculty, and staff can renew your library books by going to the Library website, clicking on the book section, and log to the system on the top right corner “log in to your account”

How many times I can renew the library books?
Students, faculty, and staff can renew library books one time only through the system, after that they must bring library books to the library for any additional renewals.

Can I reserve a book that's on loan?
Yes, you can by logging into your library account then search for the book then click on "Place hold" in the Menu on the right, once the book is returned you will be notified by email and you need to visit the library to pick the book within 1-2 days.

How do I return books?
Books can be returned in person only. Books may be returned to the circulation desk at the Library 3rd floor.

What do I do if I have lost or damaged a book?
You should contact the Library immediately if you think you have lost a book and library staff will investigate.Charges may apply

Are there any library fines?
Currently the library does not generally charge overdue fines. Replacement cost may be charged for lost or damaged items.

Where can I get advice about copyright?
Faculty, staff, and students may contact the Library for any copyright related questions.

Where can I locate password information?
You may contact the Library for any databases related password

How I can recommend a book or a journal?
You can fill our Purchase Recommendation Form
What if the library's collection doesn't have what I am looking for?
The library offers an Interlibrary loan service to eligible Alfaisal students, faculty, and staff. To borrow items not held by the Library, submit an Interlibrary loan request form.

Can I use the Internet at the library?
There are a number of computers with Internet access available for use by patrons at the library. Before use, patrons are asked to sign in using their university provided credentials. Please be aware of the Library's policy regarding Internet usage.
Yes, you can photocopy, scan, and print in the Library.
